Joseph Peila, MD IMR Faculty - Ambulatory and Hospitalist
Joseph Peila, MD is board certified in internal medicine. He was drawn back to Montana when the opportunity to teach and live in the state he loves presented itself. He is excited to mix his two passions in medicine which are developing strong relationships with his patients and teaching residents and medical students.
Dr. Peila grew up in Shepherd, MT and pursued his undergraduate education in Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Montana State University. His interest in medicine brought him to the University of Nevada School of Medicine where he completed his medical doctorate followed by his Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Peila’s first practice after residency was in outpatient internal medicine at the Colorado Permanente Medical Group in Denver. Delivering care within the Kaiser Permanente system furthered his education on how physicians from all different specialties can provide patient-centered care through good communication and cooperation. He uses this knowledge to bridge patient care between inpatient and outpatient medicine.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Peila enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, mountain biking, and working cows on his family’s ranch.
