Jason Kunz, DO, FACP Assistant Program Director, Inpatient Medicine

Jason Kunz, DO, FACP, is board certified in internal medicine and serves as Assistant Program Director for inpatient medicine here at the Billings Clinic internal medicine residency. He is engaged in many inpatient residency processes and enjoys a “celebration of learning” while engaging in clinical reasoning, high value care and incorporating safety into everyday practice. Dr. Kunz enjoys resident education in the simulation lab co-leading a CPR team leader training program, interdisciplinary mock codes and bedside procedure training, preparing residents for high stakes scenarios. He has implemented insulin prescribing protocols for the hospital and has involvement with the vascular access device PICC team, the CPR and Hospital Informatics committees. He volunteers time to judge internal medicine resident clinical posters at a local, state and national level.

Dr. Kunz received his Bachelor of Science degree at Brigham Young University-Idaho and received his Doctor of Osteopathy from A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Summa Health System, which was recognized by the ACGME as one of 17 programs designated as an Education Innovation Program (EIP). Dr. Kunz joined Billings Clinic after his residency training in 2015.

Dr. Kunz is originally from Southeast Idaho, but now calls Eastern Montana “home”. He enjoys hanging out with his wife and kids, service, wildlife spotting in Yellowstone, horseback riding, hiking, soccer, running, mountain biking, four-wheeling, kayaking, singing and playing the piano in church. He has a quest for life-long learning, enthusiasm for teaching, and commitment to inspiring the next generation of internal medicine physician graduates.
